HENRY MORENO FINE ART

Henry Painting

Why a Portrait by Henry Moreno?

Henry is an award winning artist that can use watercolor, oils, pastels or acrylics to their best advantage.  In addition to his accurate "likeness" of a person, Henry is best known for his ability to capture their "look", the essence of their personality.  Watercolor is a difficult medium for most artists because it is an unforgiving medium.  But it can reproduce beautiful transparent skin tones.  Oils reproduce rich colors and the luminosity of skin tones more dramatically and it is the most often used portrait medium.

Henry refuses to do a portrait that looks posed; preferring a portrait that captures the person in a natural, unguarded moment.  He strives to capture those details that are unique to that person's "look" and leaves out those that detract from it.  While he captures an accurate "likeness", more importantly he captures what makes a person recognizable a block away.

What happens when you commission a Portrait?

The process is very simple for the client.  Henry will travel to the location where you are most "at home" or comfortable.  He will do one or two quick sketches, with notes, that describe your "likeness" and "look", along with a series of photographs.  Photographs are a must in capturing active children and busy adults in a natural, relaxed way.  Usually only one session is needed, on very rare occasions Henry may suggest a second session.

The portrait is completed in the Artist's Studio from a composite of the sketches, notes and photographs.  A slide or digital image via email will be presented to the client for approval and Henry will work with you to ensure mutual satisfaction with the final result.
